Lucy Liu is an American actor, voice actress, director producer and vocalist. She is an attractive, intelligent actress who inspires numerous Asian actors to succeed in Hollywood. Her early success was boosted by her appearance on a few popular shows. There, she portrayed the villainous Ling Woo. In the wake of her success, she landed major roles in Shanghai Noon (1998) and Charlie's Angels (2000). In Kill Bill Volume 1, Quentin Tarantino, she gave a stunning performance as Japanese crime boss O-Ren Ishii. Around the same time she was also in leading roles in several box office failures such as Rise: Blood Hunter. Following that, she began to play characters that were prominent in animation films, such as Kung Fu Panda. Mia Mason from Cashmere Mafia was an unimportant role which failed to have any impact. Southland is a critically-acclaimed series of police dramas that included Liu in multiple role, allowed her to reaffirm her role as an actress. Liu is careful when choosing roles in order to prevent being stereotyped in an industry which is extremely competitive. As much as she loves her culture however, this has not hindered her in her work being an artist.
